Mosswater Marauder (deceased/ghost)
One of the five most notorious prisoners of Harrowstone.
Ispin Onyxcudgel, known as The Mosswater Marauder, was a notorious serial killer who was incarcerated in Harrowstone prison near Ravengro, in Canterwall county, Ustalav, where he died in the great prison fire of 708 AR.
Ispin had lived with his wife in Mosswater. Ispin Onyxcudgel was a well-liked artisan and a doting husband. When he discovered his wife’s infidelity, he flew into a jealous rage and struck her dead with his hammer, shattering her skull and his sanity with one murderous blow. Wracked with shame and guilt, Ispin became convinced that if he could rebuild his wife’s skull she would come back to life – but unfortunately, he could not find the last blade-shaped fragment from the murder site. Such was his obsession with relieving his guilt that to find a sliver of bone to complete the repair, Ispin battered more than twenty women to death. Over a several weeks he prowled without avail, never finding a piece of bone to fit his wife’s shattered skull. He was eventually caught in the act as he nearly murdered a nobleman’s daughter – he was sent directly to Harrowstone the very same night.
Ispin was not a difficult prisoner once incarcerated in Harrowstone and languished in guilt for several years before the revolt and fire.
